The Neil Maya Quartet | Celebrating Stan Getz

  • Chittlehampton The Village Hall EX37 9PU United Kingdom (map)

Tenor saxophonist Stan Getz, known as “The Sound”, was one of the twentieth century’s most influential jazz musicians. From the big band era with Woody Herman’s legendary Four Brothers to his pioneering role in bringing bossa nova to international audiences, Getz left behind an extraordinary and varied musical legacy.

Neil Maya and his quartet pay homage to that legacy, exploring some of Getz’s most celebrated recordings alongside a few surprises. Expect everything from The Girl From Ipanema and Corcovado to Four Brothers, Captain Marvel and What the World Needs Now, accompanied by stories from Getz’s colourful life and remarkable career.

A celebration of one of jazz’s true greats, brought to life by a superb quartet.
