We have an excellent track record in delivering educational workshops in primary and secondary school settings. Increasingly our educational work combines art techniques with learning about other subjects relating to heritage and environment.

The children have learnt a lot of new art techniques which they’re putting into practice. It’s impacted on their work in geography, literacy and history and working within our local community.

Sustained curriculum education | teaching and learning through the arts

We know from many years of experience that Arts based learning can support significant improvements in oracy and cross-curricular learning. Because of this we are committed to establishing creative partnerships within education settings to deliver bespoke programmes that integrate arts and creativity across the curriculum as well as improving wellbeing and social and cultural development.

At present we are delivering ‘A Voice To Tell Our Story’ with KS2 pupils from 10 primary schools in the TEAM & ALMUNIS Multi-Academy Trusts. This 3 Year project explores storytelling in four artforms aimed at developing creativity and inspiring greater confidence in speech, language and communication.

Working with researchers from the University of South Wales and artists from North Devon, the project funded by Paul Hamlyn Foundation aims to help the next generation in our communities to speak up about what matters to them. Watch the video on this page for a picture of the story so far.

Prior to our current project we had spent a year working with primary school children in Appledore, Chulmleigh, Hatherleigh, High Bickington, South Molton and Woolacombe to explore their local area through workshops with professional artists. The children created their own trails marking out areas of specific interest and significance to them.

Each trail is uniquely presented, and many include new works of art created by the children with the artists attached to their school. More information can be found here.
