“Those with even a passing interest in modern classical, or the use of classical
instruments in rock and metal, should pay attention to Raphael Weinroth-Browne.
”
Internationally renowned cellist Raphael Weinroth-Browne combines influences from metal and Middle Eastern music, defying traditional expectations of how the cello should sound. As a solo artist, he channels the energy of a full band through his cinematic compositions, using live looping and a myriad of effects to conjure otherworldly soundscapes.
Raphael has played on Juno award-winning albums, appeared on major film and TV soundtracks, performed in front of over 40,000 people at the world’s biggest metal festival, and made viral YouTube videos.
He has toured the world with Norwegian progressive metal icons Leprous, playing prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall. Most notably, he performed with the band at Hellfest and opened for rock heavyweights Evanescence, Devin Townsend, and Apocalyptica.
