Nikki Rummer is a circus performer and co-founder of the contemporary circus company Nikki & JD. Nikki trained for 10 years as an artistic gymnast in Washington State, USA, and has since co-created and performed in circus performances including the award-winning show, Knot (Total Theatre Award and Herald Angel 2019), Fireside and Unbroken by Nikki & JD. She has performed with leading British contemporary circus companies including Barely Methodical Troupe and Superfan, Taiwan’s circus company FOCA and was a finalist in 2015’s Circus Maximus Udderbelly competition.
This workshop will be led by Nikki, providing a sampling of acrobatic techniques, including handstands, floor acrobatics and movement using an acrobatic language. The aim will be to create movement sequences and improvisations that combine inversions and an animalistic relationship with the body.
