Seen us on Countryfile?
On a snowy day in January, the Countryfile team came to Chulmleigh in North Devon to find out more about the Beaford Archive.
The team met Robin Ravilious, James Ravilious’ wife, to discover more about James’ working style before heading to Spittle Farm where they met Bryan Down who was photographed by James and whose Oral History interview features in the Archive.
After a brief interlude to watch a lamb being born, Matt Baker talked to Beaford’s Sophie McCormack who explained how we’ve been digitising thousands of previously unseen photographs by James Ravilious and Roger Deakins - all of which can be viewed online and some of which will be included in a special exhibition this May.
