The Burton Art Gallery and Beaford are delighted to launch a brand-new book featuring the photographs of James Ravilious and Chris Chapman.
A Photographic Friendship celebrates the friendship of these two master photographers who embarked on their careers in Devon 50 years ago.
With a Foreword by Michael Morpurgo this book presents – for the first time together – a carefully selected set of paired photographs of North Devon and Dartmoor by James Ravilious and Chris Chapman dating back to the 1970s. It also includes a specially recorded conversation between Chris Chapman and James’s daughter, Ella Ravilious, and an essay by Professor Mark Haworth-Booth, the book’s editor.
Join us from 5.30pm for a launch and book signing with a welcome from Beaford Director Mark Wallace & Burton at Bideford Exhibitions & Collections Manager Warren Collum at 6pm.
Richard Westcott will launch A Photographic Friendship and Chris Chapman and Ella Ravilious will be joining us to sign copies of the book, which will be available to buy from the shop for £25.
