A Voice To Tell Our Story

Just before Lockdown 1.0 was announced back in March, Beaford was given the exciting news that we’d been awarded funding from Paul Hamlyn Foundation to deliver a brand new education project in ten primary schools across North Devon.

Despite all that 2020 has thrown our way, Education Leader Caroline was able to stay connected with the brilliant teachers at our partner schools to ensure that when school life resumed in September the project was able to push forward.

Since then Caroline and fellow arts practitioner Lisa have been working with KS2 pupils in Covid secure ‘bubbles’ at TEAM Mutli-Academy Trust. The 3 Year project explores storytelling in four artforms aimed at developing creativity and inspiring greater confidence in speech, language and communication.

‘A Voice To Tell Our Story’, working with researchers from the University of South Wales and artists from North Devon, aims to help the next generation in our communities to speak up about what matters to them. The research team will help us share the results of this new creative approach with rural schools across the UK.

“At a time when things are so uncertain, it’s wonderful to be in a position where we can employ local artists as well as promote creativity and wellbeing for children in our North Devon community. We’re very grateful to Paul Hamlyn Foundation for their help in making this project happen. ” Caroline, Beaford Education Leader

A Voice To Tell Our Story is made possible with support from Paul Hamlyn Foundation and in partnership with the University of South Wales.
