Introducing… Emma Down, Archivist

‘I catalogue the Beaford Archive so this means I’m responsible for creating a database of the negatives and contact sheets of the photographs by James Ravilious and Roger Deakins.  So far we’ve got around eighty thousand negatives and around two and half thousand contact sheets so it’s a big task we’re undertaking! Fortunately, I’ve got a group of vey dedicated volunteers who have been helping me with this task.

The Beaford Archive and Memory Cafes

Sophie has over 10 years’ experience leading arts and wellbeing workshops in north Devon through her work at The Plough Arts Centre, Creative Catharsis, and in the Memory Cafes network. Over the past eighteen months she has led workshops for the Hidden Histories project, engaging with over 200 members of our communities with different levels of dementia, memory problems and complex needs.

Introducing…. Lucy Perry and Anna Worthington, Community Promoters, North Molton

I went out with my fellow Beaford promoter, Anna, to a couple of gigs in North Devon and we agreed that it would be great to have some events happening in our village. So, we contacted Claire Ayres, the Community Manager and went along to the Promoters evening at Fremington Quay Café. We applied for Sam Green, who was a sell out! Black Voices then filled All Saints Church, just before Christmas, and helped with the fundraising appeal to repair the Church tower. Since then we’ve been lucky to have many music, dance and theatre shows in North Molton…
